I made a zine, and you can buy it right now!
This website was created as part of my journey to complete more work. I wanted to see as many projects all the way to the finish line as possible instead of always half creating things.
Well, earlier this year I did some reflecting and realized that the history of unfinished projects from throughout my life still had value. Even if I didn’t finish things, working on them during difficult times gave me purpose, taught me skills, and helped me learn what I wanted to do with my life. That’s why I decided to create Unfinished Business.
Unfinished Business is a community tabletop gaming zine devoted to unfinished projects. Game rules that never made it past a google doc, amazing kitbashes that never even saw primer, fantastical stories left on the backburner for revisions that may never come. All of these things have value, and can help inspire other creators.
The zine is short and sweet, but features as much content as I could fit into its format.
UB: 001 is available via my shiny new online store! I’ve made a few of my sticker designs available there as well for those who would like them, including one that ships with 3D glasses.
I’ve never had honest to goodness merch before, so thanks to the folks who’ve been encouraging me to put things out there.
What’s in issue 001?
I wanted to make sure the first issue had an interview with my friend Jay Adan, who’s been inspiring me with his painting for decades. Jay is a veteran of several creative industries, and his advice and support have been massive for me, especially as I’ve worked to establish myself as a more professional creative person. Jay’s a legend, and more people should know about his work.
The issue features the first part of The Ogre, a dark fantasy story about a village building their own horrible monster.
There’s a tutorial written by yours truly detailing my recipe for scenic glue, which I used when building the massive terrain set you can see here.
There’s a section on hobby motivations, a gallery of unfinished hobby projects from various awesome folks, and more!
I hope you’ll take the time to check it out. I learned a lot putting together my first zine, and I’m already starting on Issue 002; look out for the chance to submit your projects in the near future!
